1 TIMOTHY 1
1 PAUL, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God,
and Jesus Christ,
Which is our Savior and our hope; unto Timothy, mine own son in
Grace, mercy, and peace, from God
our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.
3 As I besought thee to abide at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia,
thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,
4 Neither give heed to fables and made-up genealogies,
Which promote controversies
rather than godly edifying, which is in faith.
5 Now the aim of this commandment is charity out of a pure heart and a
And of faith unfeigned; from which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;
7 Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor
whereof they affirm.
8 But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully; and knowing this,
That the law is not made for a righteous man,
But for the
lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners,
For unholy and
profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
10 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for
kidnappers, for liars,
For perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;
11 According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to
12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who enabled me; for he counted
Putting me into the ministry, even when before I was a blasphemer,
And a persecutor, and injurious; but I obtained
Because I did it ignorantly, in unbelief.
14 And the grace of our Lord,
Was exceeding abundant unto me,
With faith and love which is
in Christ Jesus.
15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation,
That Christ Jesus
came into the world to save sinners--of whom I am the chief.
16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might
show forth all longsuffering,
For a pattern to them which should hereafter
believe on him unto life everlasting.
17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God,
Be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
18 This charge I commit unto thee, my son Timothy,
According to the prophecies
which went before on thee,
That thou by them mightest war a good warfare;
19 Holding faith, and good conscience,
Which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck;
20 Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan,
they may learn not to blaspheme.
1 TIMOTHY 2
1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers,
And giving thanks, be made for all men, and for kings, and for all that are in authority;
That we may lead a quiet and
peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of our Savior;
4 Who is willing to have all men to be saved,
And to come unto the knowledge of the
truth which is in Jesus Christ,
Who is the Only Begotten Son of God, and ordained to be a Mediator
between God and man;
5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ
6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
7 Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle,
(I speak the truth in
Christ, and lie not;)
A teacher of Gentiles in faith and verity.
8 I will therefore that all men pray everywhere,
Lifting up holy hands, without
wrath and quarreling.
9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel,
shamefacedness and sobriety; not with braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or
10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with much good works.
11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
12 Therefore I do not suffer a woman to teach,
Nor to usurp authority over the man,
to be in silence.
13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived,
Was in the
transgression; notwithstanding they shall be saved in child-bearing,
If they continue in faith
and charity and holiness with sobriety.
1 TIMOTHY 3
1 THIS is a true saying: If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth
a good work.
2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober,
good behavior, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
3 Not given to wine, not violent but gentle,
Not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a
brawler, not covetous;
4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all
5 (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of
the church of God?)
Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of
7 Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without the church;
Lest he fall back into reproach and the snare of the devil.
8 Likewise must deacons be grave, not double-tongued,
Not given to
wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;
9 Holding the mystery of the faith,
In a pure conscience;
And let these also first be proved;
Then let them hold the office of a deacon,
if found blameless.
11 Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all
12 Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their
own houses well.
13 They that serve in the office of a deacon well, purchase unto themselves
And great assurance in their faith in Christ Jesus.
14 These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly;
15 But if I tarry long, thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave
thyself in the house of God,
Which is the church of the living God; the pillar
and bulwark of the truth is,
16 (and without controversy, great is the mystery of godliness,)
God was made manifest
in the flesh,
Justified in the Spirit,
Seen of angels,
Preached unto the
Believed on in the world, taken up in glory.
1 TIMOTHY 4
1 NOW the Spirit speaketh expressly:
In the latter times some shall
depart from the faith,
Giving heed to seducing spirits, and the doctrines of devils;
2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared as with a hot iron;
3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from certain foods,
Which God hath
created to be received with thanksgiving,
By them which believe and know the
4 For every creature that is created of God is good,
And nothing is to be refused, if it be
received with thanksgiving;
5 For then it is sanctified by the word of God and our prayer.
6 If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things,
Thou shalt be a
good minister of Jesus Christ,
Nourished up in the words of faith,
And of good
doctrine, whereunto thou hast followed.
7 But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and train thyself in
8 For while bodily exercise profiteth a little; godliness is profitable
Having promise of the life that now is, and also of that which is to come.
9 This is a faithful saying and worthy of full acceptation.
10 For therefore we both labor and suffer reproach,
Because we trust in the
Who is the Savior of all men,
Especially the believers.
11 These things command and teach.
12 Let no man despise thee for thy youth,
But be thou an example of the believers, in
In conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
13 Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
14 Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given unto thee by prophecy,
the laying on of the hands of the body of elders; now meditate upon these things,
And give thyself wholly unto them; that thy progress
may appear unto all.
16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrines; continue in them;
For in doing
this thou shalt both save thyself,
And them that hear thee.
1 TIMOTHY 5
1 REBUKE not an elder, but entreat him as a father; and the younger men as
2 The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, in all purity; honor widows that are widows indeed.
4 But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to show piety
And to requite their parents; for that is good and acceptable before
5 Now she that is a widow indeed, and all alone, trusteth in God,
in supplications and prayers night and day.
6 She who lives in pleasure is dead while she liveth.
7 And these things give by commandment,
That they may be blameless.
8 But if any provide not for his own,
And more specially for those of his own house,
He hath denied the faith, and is worse than an unbeliever.
9 Let not a widow be taken into the number under sixty years old,
been the wife of one man, well reported of for her good works;
If she have brought up children, if she have shown righteous
If she have washed the cloths of the saints, if she have relieved the
If she have diligently followed every good work; but the younger widows refuse;
For when they have begun to wax wanton against
Christ, they want to marry;
12 And so incur damnation, because they have cast off their first pledge.
13 And they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house;
not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies,
Speaking things which they
14 I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children,
house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.
15 For some are already turned aside after Satan.
16 If any woman that believeth have widows,
Let her assist them,
let not the church be burdened;
That it may relieve them that are widows alone.
17 Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honor,
Especially they who labor in the word and doctrine; for the scripture saith,
Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the
corn; and, The laborer is worthy of his reward.
19 Against an elder receive not an accusation, except by two or three
20 Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.
21 I charge thee before God,
And the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels,
That thou observe these things without preferring one before another,
nothing by partiality; lay hands in haste on no man,
Neither be sharers of other men's sins;
Keep thyself pure; some men's sins are known beforehand,
Going before to judgment; and for some men
they follow after.
25 Likewise good works of some are manifest beforehand;
And they that
are otherwise cannot be hid.
Drink no longer only water,
But use a little wine for thy stomach's sake,
1 TIMOTHY 6
1 LET as many servants as are under the yoke,
Count their own masters as worthy of
So that the name of God and his doctrine may be not blasphemed.
2 And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them because
they are brethren;
But rather do them service even better, because they are faithful and
Partakers of the benefit of their service; these things teach and exhort.
3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words,
words of our Lord Jesus Christ,
And to the doctrine which is according to
4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words,
Whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds,
And destitute of the truth,
Supposing that godliness,
Is a means of gain; from such withdraw.
6 But there is great gain in godliness with contentment.
7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry
8 But having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
9 But they that be rich fall into temptation,
And a snare,
And into many
foolish, hurtful lusts,
Which plunge men into destruction and perdition.
10 For the love of money is the root of all evils; which some covet,
And have wandered away from the faith, and pierced themselves with many
11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things and follow after righteousness, godliness,
Faith, love, patience, meekness; fight the good fight of the faith;
Lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art
And hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
13 I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things,
And before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;
14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable,
appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ;
15 Which in his times shall he show who is the blessed and only Potentate,
The King of kings, and Lord of lords; to whom be honor and power everlasting.
16 Whom no man hath seen, nor can see; and also unto whom no man can approach,
Only he who hath the light and the hope of immortality dwelling in
17 Charge the rich in this world, that they be not high-minded,
trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God,
Who giveth us richly all
things to enjoy;
18 That they do good,
That they be rich in good works,
Ready to distribute,
willing to communicate;
19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against a time to come,
That they may lay hold on eternal life; O Timothy, guard that which is committed to thy trust,
Avoiding profane and
vain babblings, and oppositions falsely called knowledge;
21 Which some professing it have erred concerning the faith.
Grace be with thee.
2 TIMOTHY 1
1 PAUL, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God,
According to the
promise of life which is Christ Jesus,
2 To Timothy, my dearly beloved son; Grace, mercy, and peace,
From God the
Father, and from Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior.
3 I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with a pure conscience,
without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;
4 Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled
5 When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee,
first in thy grandmother Lois,
And thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded in
6 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God,
is in thee by the putting on of my hands on thy head.
7 For our God hath not given to us the spirit of fear,
But of power, and of love, and
of a sound mind.
8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord,
Nor of me his prisoner; but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel,
According to the power of God who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling,
Not according to our
works, but according to his own purpose and grace,
Which was given us in Christ
Jesus before the world began,
10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ,
hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the

12 For which cause I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not
For I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able,
keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
13 Hold fast the sound words, which thou hast heard of me,
In faith and
love which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
14 That good thing which was committed unto thee,
Keep by the Holy Ghost which
dwelleth in us.
15 And this thou knowest, that all they,
In Asia be turned away from me;
Of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes.
16 The Lord give mercy unto the house of Onesiphorus;
For he oft refreshed me,
and was not ashamed of my chains;
17 But, when in Rome, he sought me out very diligently, and found me.
18 The Lord grant unto him that he may find mercy of the Lord in that day;
in how many things he ministered unto me at Ephesus, thou knowest very well.
2 TIMOTHY 2
1 THOU therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
2 And the things that thou hast heard of me from many witnesses,
commit thou unto other faithful men,
Who shall be able to teach others also.
3 Therefore endure hardness as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life,
he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
5 And if a man also strive for masteries,
He is not crowned, except he
finish within the rules.
6 The husbandman that laboreth must have the first share of the fruits.
7 Consider what I say; for the Lord shall give thee understanding in all
8 Remember that Jesus Christ, the seed of David, was raised from the dead
according to the gospel;
9 Wherein I suffer trouble as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of
God is not bound.
10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also
Which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory;
For this is a faithful saying:
If we be dead with him, we shall also live
12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will
13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful; for he cannot deny himself.
These things put in remembrance; warn them before the Lord,
That they strive not about words to no profit,
But to the subverting of the
15 Do your best in study to show thyself approved unto God,
A workman that needeth not to be
ashamed, rightly handling the truth.
16 But shun profane and vain babblings; for they will increase unto more
17 And their words will eat as doth gangrene; of whom is Hymenaeus,
And Philetus, who, concerning the truth, have erred,
Saying, that the resurrection is past
And have overthrown the faith of some.
19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth,
Having this seal: The
Lord knoweth them that are his; and,
Let everyone confessing the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
20 For in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver,
also of wood and of clay; some for noble purposes, and some for ignoble.
21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall become a vessel unto
Sanctified, and meant for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.
22 Flee youthful lusts and follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace,
Along with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
23 But foolish and unlearned controversies avoid,
Knowing that they do breed quarrels.
24 And the servant of the Lord must not quarrel;
But be gentle unto all men,
apt to teach, and patient;
25 In meekness he must instruct those that even oppose themselves;
If God peradventure
will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil,
taken captive by him to do his will.
2 TIMOTHY 3
1 THIS know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, and covetous,
blasphemers, disobedient to parents,
Unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers,
False accusers, incontinent, fierce,
despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof; from such turn
6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead away captive,
women laden with sins, led away with diverse lusts,
7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
8 Now as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so do these also resist
Men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith; but they shall proceed no further;
For their folly shall be manifest unto all
men, as was those two men also.
10 Now thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life,
Patience, persecutions, and afflictions,
Which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at
What persecutions I endured; yet out of them all the Lord delivered
12 Yea, all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall also suffer persecution;
13 For evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being
14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured
Of whom thou hast learned them; and that from childhood thou hast known the holy scriptures,
Which are able to
make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16 And all scripture given by inspiration of God, is profitable for
For reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness;
17 That the man of God may be perfect,
Thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
2 TIMOTHY 4
1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ,
judge both the quick and the dead,
At his appearing in his kingdom:
2 Preach the word; be ready in season or out of season;
Reprove, rebuke, exhort
with all longsuffering and doctrine.
3 For the time will come soon when they will no longer endure sound doctrine;
their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers for their itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth and shall be turned unto

Make full proof of thy ministries; for I am ready to be offered up,
And the time of my departure is at hand.

8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness,
Which the Lord,
the righteous judge, shall give me at that day;
And not to me only, but unto all
them also that love his appearing.
9 Do thy diligence to come shortly unto me; for Demas hath forsaken me,
Having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica;
Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia; only Luke is with me.
Get Mark and bring him with thee;
For he is
profitable unto me for the ministry.
12 Tychicus have I sent to Ephesus; and the cloak that I left at Troas,
With Carpus, when thou comest, bring with
thee, and the books, but especially the parchments.
14 Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil; the Lord will reward him according to
15 Of whom be thou aware also; for he hath greatly withstood our message.
16 At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me;
God that it may not be laid to their charge.
17 Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me and strengthened me;
That by me the
preaching might be fully known, and all the Gentiles might hear;
And that very day I
was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
18 And the Lord shall also deliver me from every evil work,
And will preserve me
unto his heavenly kingdom;
To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
19 Salute Prisca and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus.
20 Erastus abides at Corinth; but Trophimus have I left sick at Miletum.
21 Do thy diligence to come before winter; Eubulus sends his greetings to thee,
As do Pudens,
and Linus, and Claudia, and all the brethren.
22 The Lord Jesus Christ be with you all,
And grace be with you. Amen.
